Holiday Okini Now open!

The word Okini means to share, that is the Lakota philosophy. The people listed on Okini list are families in need who don't have the resources to buy necessities.

The Okini Lists give information on the size of the family, the number of members living in the home, ages & genders.

The holiday Okini List informs you on the gifts that family wishes for, whereas the year- round Okini List provides specific information about urgent needs such as clothing, household supplies, food, hygiene articles. This website will soon incorporate the year-round Okini

You can support both separate individuals or whole families through this season of celebrations.

About the Pine ridge Reservation

Pine Ridge Reservation, home to the Oglala Lakota Nation in South Dakota, covers over 2 million acres and is rich in cultural heritage.

While the reservation faces challenges, such as limited access to jobs, economic opportunities and a median household income of approximately $26,000, there are positive strides being made. Initiatives led by One Spirit, communities and other organizations focused on sustainable development and education are gaining traction, with programs aimed at improving health and wellness. Additionally, local efforts to boost economic development, including small businesses and tourism, are helping to foster a sense of self-determination and resilience among residents. The Oglala Lakota are actively preserving their traditions and language, creating a vibrant cultural landscape that thrives despite the challenges.
